Wedding Photography Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect on my Wedding Day?

Your wedding gallery needs to reflect your day as it unfolded and how you felt in those moments. I want you to be transported straight back to those moments when you look through your images. My approach to documenting your wedding is to be as unobtrusive as possible. My niche is to capture all the big moments alongside the intimate, often missed glances and touches which are equally as important.

The Lead Up

We’ll spend time getting to know each other in the lead up to the wedding so you don’t feel I’m a complete stranger when it comes to the day. I want you to feel as relaxed as possible on your wedding day so communication is extremely important to me and learn what you’re comfortable with or not so comfortable with by the time your wedding day comes around. People like to show their love for each other in completely different ways- some like to be publicly affectionate and others just like to joke around. What is important is that I capture your love authentic to you!

Bridal Prep and Ceremony

Bridal prep can be a really personal and emotional time as well as fun! I’ll blend into the background as much as possible but I can be as hands on as you need me to be. If Mum needs a hand to make all the cuppas, I’m your woman! I’ll chat to the officiant beforehand to discuss what’s allowed within the ceremony photography-wise and be as discreet as possible.

Portraits

I’ll steal you away from your loved ones for the minimal time needed for portraits and we’ll discuss in detail what to expect and when in terms of your timeline of the day. I will work with you to streamline your day so that you’ve as much time as possible to enjoy with your family and friends.

Reception and Party

Again, I’ll blend into the background as much as possible. But I love a good party. So, if it’s really kicking off, expect me to be slap bang in the middle of the dance floor capturing all the moves!

Do I need a second shooter?

This depends on the length of the day, how much coverage you want and distances between prep location and ceremony. I can talk though the various options with you.

How do you ensure my images are safe?

I shoot on 2 cameras throughout the day, both with double card slots. Once I get home from the wedding I’ll back up your images on various hard-drives and a cloud-system.

Are you insured?

Yes, I have full Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance.

What happens if you get sick or have a personal emergency on the day of the wedding?

This has thankfully never happened. But, we don’t have control over everything in life and sometimes these situations can arise. Thankfully, if this were to happen I’m surrounded by a network of the warmest and wonderfully talented photographer friends who’d I’d call upon to step in.

I think we'd be a good fit - how do I book?

Yay! This makes my heart happy.  Please get in touch via the contact form with as much information as possible about your day, especially your date and venue and I’ll be in touch within 24-72 hours (depending on where I’m working). Please also check your spam folder for a response from me.

Family and Couples Photography Frequently Asked Questions

How long will my shoot last?

Shoots are usually no longer than 45 minutes, especially when there are little ones involved. They tend to get bored after a while and you don’t want fussy, bored little faces in your gallery!

Where do your shoots take place?

Anywhere! (within reason). I like to shoot couples and families in places that mean something to them but am always happy to suggest locations too.

For children, the beach and forests are a good shout as there’s plenty of exploration opportunities which mean they’ll be less aware of my presence, thus creating more authentic moments. Newborns tend to be shot at home unless it’s really balmy weather. Which, let’s face it, is hardly ever!

Couples can be shot ANYWHERE! City centres, beaches, cafes, funfairs, you name it. I love when couples suggest random locations. It allows me to get my creative juices flowing and can be so much fun!

What should we wear to our shoot?

Now, I’m not your mummy so I’ll not be telling you how to dress. HOWEVER, certain tones, textures etc can be more flattering against certain backdrops and skin tones so I will happily guide you if you’ll gladly accept.

Will you cancel if it rains?

I’ll not shoot children in really cold or wet weather. However, our beautiful misty, wet, windy weather can make for really stunning couple shots so I’m happy to go ahead if you are. Just bring your hand-warmers and a coffee/hip flask...whatever keeps your tootsies warm and your heart happy!
